Engineering Diversity Scholarship 2016

Applications are due Oct. 30

What is this scholarship all about?

At Box, we believe that the most engaging, intellectually stimulating conversations are founded in diversity. Different backgrounds and varied life experiences foster unique perspectives and give us more tools with which to solve the challenges we face as builders.

We want you to bring your unique perspective to the technology field, add your voice to the conversation, and help grow a broader, richer, more diverse technology community. As an engineering company, we have a vested interest in your success.

We are offering the Box Engineering Diversity Scholarship to support you as you pursue a career in computer science. Five scholarships will be awarded to students from an underrepresented group or female students, who are pursuing a degree in computer science or a closely related field.

Prizes will be awarded as follows:

  • One grand-prize $20,000 scholarship
  • Four $4,000 scholarships

Finalists will be awarded a trip to Box HQ for Scholarship Weekend 2016, Dec 1-3. At HQ they will meet and interview with the scholarship committee and participate in activities with fellow scholarship finalists. The grand-prize winner will be selected from the finalists and announced during Scholarship Weekend.

When will my school receive payment?

Scholarship funds will be sent to the institution's financial aid office (or other appropriate office) in the name of the student in Fall 2017.

What if I’m planning on transferring between four-year universities between now and Fall 2017?

Your scholarship award will be sent to the school where you are enrolled as of Fall 2017. If you’re planning to transfer, you should still apply. We will confirm institution information with all finalists upon selection.

What if am graduating before Fall 2017?

The scholarship funds will be sent directly to the institution's financial aid office. The university will send the scholarship back to Box if you are no longer enrolled at the college so you should not apply.

What if I am a freshman and do not have a GPA yet?

Freshmen are welcome to apply! If you do not have an official GPA, try and estimate it to the best of your ability.

What if I am a high school senior?

Sorry, but high school students cannot apply. We are only accepting applications from newly enrolled freshman and students from non-traditional colleges who will be enrolled as of Fall 2017. We look forward to hopefully receiving your application in the future!

What about community college students?

We are accepting applications from community college students who will be enrolled at an accredited four-year university in Fall 2017. Any student who will be transferring to a four-year institution by Fall 2017 can apply and should use their latest GPA at their present institution. Due to the college acceptance timeline, we will be unable to verify acceptance prior to selecting finalists so use your best judgement when applying. We will confirm enrollment prior to awarding the scholarship, so if you do not transfer, we cannot give the award.
